The terminology and use of each piece of equipment will be addressed, regional issues for beekeeping in the mid-west. as well as diseases and pests most likely to affect a honey bee colony. You will learn how to obtain bees, starting them in your apiary and feeding them, in addition to the importance of seasonal management and hive inspections. Weather and bees permitting, this will be supplemented with a hands-on in-hive inspection, and honey harvesting demonstration. Of course, no one will go home without a sweet sample!
